I grew up loving shows like Fawlty Towers, watching John Cleese's character, Basil Fawlty run what appeared to the most destructive hotels in TV history created a certain impression of what you could expect in a place like Torquay, only to find out years later that this location was part of the 'English Riviera'. The word Riviera normally get associated with the warm and beautiful regions in either Italy or France, but after visiting the English Riviera myself I found myself intrigued with the idea of these British seaside towns existing within something that's traditionally very European.
