The banks of the Ganges are amongst the most fascinating places I have ever visited. Life and death are so closely intertwined along the Ganges with bonfires surrounded by mourning family members cremating a loved one and children playing cricket only a few feet away.
This series of photographs was taken over the course of a month following the same group of boys. As the waters of the Ganges rose with the monsoon season, I kept returning to the same dock where they played. Here, pilgrims and holy men dipped in the sacred waters and water buffaloes sought relief from the oppressing heat.
