I embarked on a trip to northern India in late 2016 with a heap of film and a camera, flying into New Delhi and exploring the surrounding cities including Jaipur, Varanasi and Agra. Whilst a lot of my film was used taking typical touristy photographs of monuments such as the Taj Mahal and the bathing ghats along the River Ganges, I found after getting the photographs developed that my favourites were of all the people that I had came across my travels. The great thing about India is that the people are so friendly and welcoming of being photographed, and that made taking the photos a truly fun and memorable experience. The only problem was that they usually wanted to see the photograph immediately after they had been taken, which typically involved some confusion when showing them an old film camera. I was lucky enough to be travelling with my Dad who is a very keen photographer, and most of our days were spent sightseeing, taking photographs, drinking beers and soaking in the fantastic chaos that is India.
