Adamsdown is a residential area just outside the centre of Cardiff. It’s a model example of a contemporary multicultural community. In this project, as well as capturing the unity and warmth of the area and its residents, I also wanted to present ideas about aspects of the community that seem disjointed. In most houses the residents share entirely different backgrounds to those of their neighbours, there’s both a language and cultural barrier that they must see past, in order to form a functioning community, this has proved hard to overcome for some. Nevertheless, in a time of uncertainty, where cohesion and tolerance is vital for the future, these integrated communities now present the foundations of our new society.
